This is the new home page for the fMRI Toolbox project, formerly known as the SPM Toolbox. Development on the original SPM Toolbox projects has ceased, as they were tied to SPM99 which has been deprecated for several years.

The projects currently under development are:

FMRI Optimization Toolbox: Tools for optimization of event-related fMRI designs

Synthetic data: A tool for creating synthetic datasets

fMRI Data Management: Scripts to help create a wiki-based fMRI data management system

FSL-ROI version 2: This tool provides the means to estimate event-related timecourses for datasets analyzed using FSL.

Data diagnostics: Scripts to perform diagnostic analyses on fMRI data


These tools have been developed with the support of NIH grants 1P50MH077248 (J. McCracken, PI) and PL1MH083271 (R. Bilder, PI).


I would recommend the following solutions as replacements for the older SPM Toolbox programs:

ROI analysis

MarsBar - This is a great ROI anlaysis program from Matthew Brett that works with SPM99 and SPM2.

FSL-ROI - This is a toolbox originally written by me, and then improved by Chris Rorden, for FIR-based ROI analysis in FSL.


Diffusion Tensor Imaging analysis

FDT - An outstanding DTI analysis package from the FSL group at Oxford.

Diffusion Toolbox II - A DTI analysis toolbox for SPM2.
